Succeed with the right mindset

Every entrepreneur is advised to read up on mindset. And for good reason, because by delving into the importance of a strong mindset, you'll not only become stronger in your business, but also improve the rest of your life. However, after reading numerous books, attending masterclasses, or seminars on this topic, you might still not always have your mindset on point. It's time for a powerful summary of the mindset facts you want to keep on top of your mind!

Did you know that the way you were raised lays an important foundation for your mindset? The chances are that you can trace your views on the following points back to how your parents handled them. For some, this works out better than for others. However you were raised: your mindset is 100% within your control!

#1 "Failure is an opportunity to grow" vs. "failure is the limit of my abilities"

In the world of successful entrepreneurs, there's no such thing as failure. Or does that mean nothing ever goes wrong? On the contrary! In fact, it's likely that more things will go wrong than right (especially at the beginning).

Were you raised with the idea that making mistakes means you should try something else? Then the chances are slim that you'll enjoy becoming an entrepreneur. Good news! Making mistakes doesn't mean you're not capable of something. The only thing mistakes do is create space for growth.

Being afraid of mistakes = being afraid of success. There's simply no success without failure. And there's no success without growth.

So the next time you become uncertain because something went wrong, remind yourself: Part of the process! I'm growing.

#2 "Challenges help me to grow" vs. "I don't like to be challenged"

Challenges: some people get enthusiastic about them, while others feel uncomfortable. And you know what? It's completely normal if you're not eager to start something you know will be challenging. The more challenging the task, the higher the chance of failure.

Challenges can go wrong. But you know that: making mistakes is part of success. If that's not a reason to start looking at challenges in a more positive light, then I don't know what is.

#3 "I like to try new things" vs. "I stick to what I know"

If you want to change something, you need to change something. Get it? Both in your business and the rest of your life, it's incredibly important to keep trying new things. You probably know this, but what it really comes down to: do you actually enjoy trying new things?

Find enthusiasm for new things. Find pleasure in discovering and experimenting. The difficult part about 'trying new things'? Often, you don't know what the outcome will be. The trick is to try new things without having any expectations.

Not everything has to be functional. Try new things and enjoy the moment! And that one time you do something that turns out to be a life changer?! Well, that's just a nice bonus!

#4 "Feedback is an opportunity to grow" vs. "Feedback and criticism are personal"

Receiving feedback is an area where many people can improve. No surprise. But what happens when you learn to embrace feedback is so valuable that you'd be crazy not to work on it!

We all have blind spots. Even successful entrepreneurs. You can be great at many things, but there's always room for improvement. Improvement that you might not see yourself. And this is exactly why it's foolish to view feedback as personal criticism.

It's impossible to be great at everything. So next time you receive feedback, please realize you've just been given a chance to make improvements you might not have thought of otherwise. You've been given a chance to grow.

#5 "I'm inspired by the success of others" vs. "I'm demotivated by the success of others"

This point requires little explanation, yet you might still recognize it. A tiny pang of jealousy when you hear someone who's made it big talking. Guess what? It's okay. We all feel it sometimes.

The question is: what do you do with this feeling? Do you dwell on it or put it aside? Do you focus on negative energy or teach yourself to turn that little stab of jealousy into admiration? You have a choice. Let yourself be inspired.

Don't compare your chapter 1 to someone's level 20!
