Improve Focus

Improve Focus

What should you (not) eat to stay focused? An interesting question, especially when you're running your own business and want to get the most out of every hour. Fatigue and distractions are absolute no-gos for your success. So, what's the best food for more focus? Everyone has 24 hours in a day. If you're smart, you'll spend around 7 hours on a good night's sleep. How can you make the most of the remaining 17 hours with the right food?

1. The foundation for optimal focus

It won't surprise you, but it's essential to mention. Besides getting enough sleep and exercise, it's crucial to get sufficient vitamins, fiber, fats, and minerals to maintain good focus. In other words: getting enough nutrients is necessary for optimal focus. Fatigue and poor concentration are well-known consequences of a lack of these nutrients.

Of course, there are certain focus-boosters and focus-killers, but be aware of your foundation! Dive into this. Without a solid base, it's tough to build a house ;-).

2. This food is an absolute focus killer

"Another cliché!" you might think when reading this paragraph. But before you let that thought sink in, ask yourself how much of it you've already consumed today. We're talking about sugar! Yes, it occurs naturally in fruit, and that's basically the only source you should get it from. "Sugar is, when it comes to food, the #1 silent killer" for health and concentration.

Sugar is linked to chronic inflammation and cancer development. So, avoid processed sugar sources. High blood sugar levels only provide short-term energy, while undermining long-term concentration.

3. Boost your focus with these foods

Avocado

Avocado contains potassium and vitamin K, which lower blood pressure. This helps oxygen flow more efficiently to the brain, essential for hyperfocus. Use moderate portions.

Fish

Fatty fish contains omega-3, crucial for brain function. One serving per week is enough for optimal cognitive performance.

Coffee

1-2 cups daily will keep you sharp. Avoid excessive intake and consumption later in the day to not disrupt sleep.

Cacao

Pure chocolate (without added sugar) supports concentration. Combine it with coffee for an optimal effect.

Walnuts

These nuts contain vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that support brain function. Add a handful to your daily routine.

Water

"80% of your brain is made up of water." Drink at least 2 liters per day for optimal mental performance.

Take care of your foundation, exercise, reduce sugar, and follow the above food tips for maximum energy and focus.
