Is Online Business Hard?

Is online entrepreneurship tough? Not if you know this!

Starting your own online business is easier than ever. At least, that's what many online coaches claim. But what about all that competition? Can we all really be successful? Is online entrepreneurship tough? In this article, you'll learn the 5 things you need to know!

1. With this trait, online entrepreneurship isn't tough

We live in amazing times, and yet, not everything in this modern world works in our favor. At least, not if you want to be a successful entrepreneur. Unconsciously, we learn a few traits that make online entrepreneurship tough!

When do we usually find something tough? Often when it doesn't work out (quickly). In a world where we're often in a hurry and where most things can be arranged quickly with a message, a call, or a Google search, we're not used to dealing with tough situations. If someone doesn't respond, or if you can't find an answer on Google, chances are you'll feel this emotion: impatience.

Who's impatient, waits twice as long

Our impatient society raises impatient people. Meanwhile, patience is an incredibly powerful trait. Are you brave enough to be patient? Can you build your online business from a place of patience, without wishing or expecting to reach the top within a year?

Don't get me wrong. You can reach the top within a year. It can happen that fast. But it can also take longer. That doesn't mean you'll fail. Impatient entrepreneurs often give up too quickly or constantly try out new business ideas.

Are you brave enough to be patient?

2. 'How much do you want it?' is an important question

If you prefer to play it safe and avoid setbacks at all costs, then entrepreneurship might not be your path. For many people, the question is: 'how much do you want it?' If you really want it, you'll be willing to do whatever it takes to make your entrepreneurial dream a huge success.

If you really want it, you'll probably be willing to go all-in. Ask yourself this question. Because online entrepreneurship comes with challenges. And only those who want it badly enough will stay afloat!

3. Without competition, online entrepreneurship is tough!

Many online entrepreneurs curse competition. Now that starting your own online business is easier than ever (you often don't even need startup capital), there are suddenly many more people doing it! Great.

For most entrepreneurs, competition makes business tougher. But is that really true? Have you ever thought about it this way? Read on!

Entrepreneurship and competition are inseparable

The word entrepreneurship stands for many things. It stands for: earning your own money without a boss, a sense of freedom, making your own decisions, being solution-oriented, and so on. Entrepreneurship also includes dealing with competition. You want to be an entrepreneur? Then competition is simply a part of it, so you gotta deal with it!

Of course, competition can be tough. You've got a great product to sell, and then the competition offers it cheaper. How's that possible? If you make it even cheaper, you'll lose money! That kind of competition can be frustrating.

And yet, it's also competition that keeps you sharp, that makes you innovate and develop. If there was no competition, your business would never be as on top of its game as it is now!

Competition can feel unfair, but you didn't start your business to play the victim and complain about (unfair) competition. Obstacles are part of entrepreneurship, and competition is a natural part of the deal! Be creative, look for solutions, and read up on ways to smartly handle competition. You have something unique, and that's what sets your business apart. No competitor can match that!

4. Is online entrepreneurship tough? Your grandfather might have a thing or two to say about that…

When your grandfather had to work for his money, he probably did it by working hard for a boss. Was your grandfather an entrepreneur? Then it cost him blood, sweat, and tears to run his business. Because back then, there was no internet. Back then, there were no online ads and no 'order today, delivered tomorrow'.

If our grandparents wanted to start a business, they had to invest all their savings to open a physical store. While you can work on your 'side hustle' in the evenings, next to your school or job, from behind your laptop, that was unthinkable back then.

If you're now wondering if online entrepreneurship is tough, it's essential to realize the modern inventions we're blessed with today. Compared to the past... no, online entrepreneurship isn't that difficult. But, as mentioned earlier... are you willing to go all-in and give it your all?

5. You choose how many obstacles you encounter

One advantage of running your own online business is that you can start at any time and begin without any experience. Just don't forget that 70% of businesses ultimately fail.

So, it's great that starting out is so accessible, but it's by no means a guarantee of success!

Entrepreneurship is as tough as you make it. If you choose to get good training, surround yourself with like-minded entrepreneurs, and seek the right coaching, you'll set yourself up to be among the top performers who not only keep their business alive but also run a profitable online business!
